When is the application deadline?
Our first round of admission closes on January 17, 2026, after which applicants will move into a rolling admission process.
What kind of student is successful at Princeton Friends School?
We are a community that values curiosity, kindness, community, and creativity. Students who thrive at Princeton Friends are joyful learners—eager to ask questions, try new things, work collaboratively, and grow both academically and socially. We celebrate individuality and nurture the inner light in every child.
Where do your graduates go to high school?
Our graduates go on to thrive in a wide range of independent and public high schools. They are known for being thoughtful leaders, strong communicators, and compassionate community members—well-prepared for the academic and social challenges of high school and beyond. We offer close support throughout the high school placement process starting in middle school.
What happens at a Visit or Discovery Day?

Preschool, Kindergarten, and 1st Grade applicants are invited to a Discovery Day, where children spend an hour in the classroom, meet teachers, engage in activities, and interact with peers.

2nd–8th Grade applicants are invited for a Visit Day, where they are paired with a current student and experience a full day at PFS.

Visit days are scheduled after your application is complete. Your admissions representative will walk you through the process.

What is a Family Follow-up Session?
As part of our relationship-centered approach to admissions, we invite every family to a Family Follow-up Session with our Director of Admission & Financial Aid. This is a time for deeper conversation—about your hopes for your child, your experience of our school, and any remaining questions you may have.
What is the school’s homework and grading policy?

At Princeton Friends, we believe homework should support learning without overwhelming students or families. Homework is developmentally appropriate and gradually increases through the grade levels, encouraging independence, time management, and reflection. Most importantly, it never comes at the expense of sleep, family time, or play.

As a progressive school, we do not award traditional letter or number grades on a report card. Instead, families recieve narrative reports at the end of each term that discuss in detail what the course learning targets and themes were and how each student fared academically and socially, including specific areas for celebration and growing edges they are working toward. We believe this approach to reports--which are intended to be as much student-facing as family-facing--empowers students in their learning journey and supports caregivers in best understanding how their child is doing academically and socially.

How soon do we receive a notification of admission?
For our fall round of admission, families are notified about their admission status in March. During our rolling admission period, most families receive an admission decision within two weeks of completing their full application—including the student visit, family follow-up session, and submission of all required documents.
Do families receive tuition assistance at PFS?

Yes! Princeton Friends School is committed to making our education accessible to a wide range of families. Financial aid is available, and is awarded based on demonstrated need. Aid is prioritized for families who apply during the first round of admission, but we continue to consider aid during rolling admissions as funds allow. We welcome your questions and are happy to guide you through the process confidentially.
