From the moment students arrive on our wooded campus, they are greeted by name with a fist bump and smile, known by the administrators greeting them, and invited to be themselves fully as they get ready for the day.

Whether they’re in preschool or 8th grade, each child’s day is thoughtfully designed to nurture their intellectual curiosity, social-emotional growth, and inner light.

Here’s what a typical day might look like:

7:45 AM – Morning Arrival & Connection

Students arrive and head to their classrooms to find their advisors greeting each child warmly, creating a calm and welcoming start to the day.

For students in Preschool through 3rd grade, the day begins with a gentle welcome and time for children to ease into the day with connection and calm.

For students in Grades 4-8, advisory begins to support readiness for the day, paying attention to both social-emotional and organizational needs to start the day with purpose.

8:00 AM – Morning Gathering & Academic Classes

While students in Grades 4-8 head off for their first academic class, our elementary students gather for Morning Meeting, guided by Responsive Classroom best practices. In a cirlce, classroom communities gather to share reflections, plan the day, and build connection.

For all of our learners, subjects come alive through hands-on, interdisciplinary learning. A math lesson might involve measuring natural objects found on a creek walk. A history class might explore primary sources and ask big questions about justice and community.

Inquiry, discussion, and creativity are at the heart of every lesson.

9:30 AM – Morning Gathering, Outdoor Play & Snack

Facilitated by eighth graders, students in 3rd through 8th grade gather in the Great Room for Morning Gathering--a splendid mix of community-building and announcements for the day. We know that play is essential for well-being, creativity, and academic accelleration, so after Morning Gathering, the first of two recesses begins.

In mixed-age groups, you'll find students choosing areas of the campus to play, explore, and connect, from the sandpit and playground to the trails and fields that surround our campus.
